12th Annual Robotics Design Challenge – 2017, University of Missouri
Robotics Design Challenge is an event for K-8 youth, where they build LEGO-robots with a variety of sensors, and program them to accomplish a given task. The Challenge has been hosted annually since 2006 by the Center staff, in collaboration with K-12 teachers, 4-H and other community organizations. The goal is to introduce STEM skills at a an early age, and to motivate them to pursue science and engineering careers.

FIRST Championship - St. Louis, America's Center/Dome
Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology, this is the ultimate Sport for the Mind. Watch as student-built-robots compete in the 2017 challenge entitled FIRST STEAMWORKS. How does it work? Each January, high school teams receive a Kit of Parts comprised of donated items and components worth tens of thousands of dollars. With limited instructions and working with adult Mentors, students have just six (6) weeks to collaboratively design, build, program and test their robots to meet each season's new engineering challenge. Once these young investors build their robot, the team competes in regional/district events that measure the effectiveness of the robot, the power of collaboration and the determination of students. Teams vie for awards and a spot at the FIRST Championship in St. Louis, MO where the best-of-the-best come together in late April. College scholarships top some $30+ million annually.

Or you could bark, quack, or squeak, because the 2016 ANIMAL ALLIES season is all about our furry, feathered, and finned friends. In the 2016/2017 FIRST LEGO League Challenge, more than 28,000 teams of students age 9 to 14 will look into the eyes of our ANIMAL ALLIES. What might become possible when we learn to help each other?
