  • Robot Rumble, Techno Chaos

EARLY Robotics Rumble Strengthen your ingenuity and game strategy in using robotics. Even better see how nifty of an attachment you can build to get the most points during an EARLY Robotics competition. Sumobots Robot Rumble Teams compete to 'stay in the ring' and attempt to push each other off the field or to disable their opponent. Each team will have multiple matches during the Robot Rumble to compete with other SumoBots. Teams must bring their robot ready to rumble! Note the field is solid black and there is a white line as the boundary of the field. The field is approximately 4 feet in diameter. All Sumobots must run autonomously and have a 5 second delay before they 'attack or try to find their opponent'. For complete rules for the mini LEGO SumoBot format click here.

  • Get Excited About Robotics (GEAR), Texas Tech University

GEAR (Get Excited About Robotics) is a 6-8 week LEGO robotics challenge for elementary and middle school students during which student teams build and program LEGO robots (using the MINDSTORMS EV3 and NXT kits) to perform specified tasks. To solve the challenge, students learn engineering skills through a teaming exercise in designing, building, programming, testing, and troubleshooting wheeled LEGO robots that perform and compete on an eight foot by eight foot field. GEAR itself (www.gearrobotics.org) is a nonprofit 501(c) 3 volunteer organization, which was created to foster interest among today's youth in a career in engineering, science or technology. It provides the game rules for the annual competition together with instructions on how to build game tables and piece. GEAR also maintains Question and Answer and Frequently Asked Questions sections on their website. GEAR tournaments are held at various locations; for more information regarding GEAR tournaments outside of Lubbock, TX, please check the GEAR Website: http://www.gearrobotics.org/ For more information about GEAR at Texas Tech University please check out http://www.coe.ttu.edu/stem/gear/
