  • Robot Zoo, Grand Rapids Public Museum

    Explore the biomechanics of complex animal robots to discover how real animals work, in The Robot Zoo. The Robot Zoo reveals the magic of nature as a master engineer. Eight robot animals and more than a dozen hands-on activities illustrate fascinating real-life characteristics, such as how a chameleon changes colors, a giant squid propels itself and a fly walks on the ceiling.

  • FIRST Robotics Demonstration, Paradise Teams

    That ONE Team-Our Next Engineers will be demonstrating their high school built robots for the FIRST Robotics competition (firstinspires.org). There will be a demonstration of what the robots can do and time for questions about the team and robots. The audience will get a chance to drive the robots under the drive team's supervision. There will also be small LEGO robots and mentors to help younger children learn and explore the world of robotics.

    Come and experience firsthand the excitement of a FIRST® Robotics Competition event! Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology, this is the ultimate Sport for the Mind™. Watch as student-built-robots compete in the 2016 challenge, FIRST STRONGHOLD. In FIRST STRONGHOLD, two Alliances of three robots each are on a Quest to breach their opponents’ fortifications, weaken their tower with boulders, and capture the opposing tower. Robots score points by breaching opponents’ defenses and scoring boulders through goals in the opposing tower. During the final 20 seconds of the Quest, robots may surround and scale the opposing tower to capture it.
