VEX IQ Challenge- Middle School, Cedar Lakes Conference Center
Crossover is played on a 4’x8’ rectangular field configured as seen above. Two robots compete in the Teamwork Challenge as an alliance in 60 second long teamwork matches, working collaboratively to score points. Teams also compete in two additional challenges; The Robot Skills Challenge where one robot takes the field to score as many points as possible under driver control; The Programming Skills Challenge where one robot scores as many points as possible autonomously, without any driver inputs.

In the VEX Competitions, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, teams of students are tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams from around the world in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test on the playing field as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels; local champions go on to compete against the best in the world at VEX Worlds each April!

Robotics Day, Spark! Imagination and Science Center
Robotics Day at Spark! Imagination and Science Center Do you love robots? Celebrate National Robotics Week at Spark! Imagination and Science Center’s Robotics Day. On Saturday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Museum will be all about robots. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about and manipulate the Mountaineer Area Robotics (MARS) robots, take home a drawing made by a robot, build a brushbot and play with a Sphero. Admission to the event is free, but participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item which will be donated to a Morgantown food pantry. “Robotics Day is a great day for kids of all ages to learn about robots and get excited about engineering and technology,” says Julie Bryan, Executive Director of Spark! Imagination and Science Center. Visitors can also explore Spark’s hands-on exhibits. Visitors can dig for pretend dinosaur fossils, build a ball ramp, explore nanoscience, play dress up, and much more. Visitor’s can also experience Spark’s newest exhibit, the Imagination Playground. Robotics Day is sponsored by West Virginia University Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. Spark! Imagination and Science Center (formerly the Children’s Discovery Museum of West Virginia) is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm and located inside the Mountaineer Mall at 5000 Greenbag Road. Regular Admission is $6 per child, $2 per adult for non-members and free for members. Spark is a 501 (c) 3, non-profit organization. For more information, call 304-292-4646 or visit the museum’s website at sparkwv.org. For information on MARS, visit their facebook page at www.facebook.com/MountaineerAreaRoboticS/
