The 6th annual Southern Illinois Robotics Expo will be held at the MVTHS Career Center April 6th. An open Lego Sumobot competition will start at noon. Any team may compete. Rules are the robot must be made entirely of LEGO products and be able to fit into a 25cm cube. Robots must not weigh more than 1400g. Robots must use only 1 brick. The MVTHS Roborams will be showcasing their robotics programs.

Join the Riverfront Museum on to learn all about invention! Students will watch Extreme Weather 3D in the Giant Screen Theater and learn how inventions are built to help keep people safe. Students will have a blast creating their own inventions and using Lego bricks to see their designs come to life! They will also explore the museum galleries including Ten Medical Inventions That Changed the World! After care is available for $4 and runs from 4-5:30pm. In partnership with MATE, Shedd Aquarium hosts a regional event for underwater robotics clubs to showcase their engineering, presentation and teamwork skills, among others, while competing in real-world scenarios.
This year, the Eastman Foundation is collaborating with the MATE ROV Competition and looking to its competitors to assist the company in doing “Good for Good.” Eastman has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and crew that can operate in the freshwater environments of Boone Lake, Boone Dam, and the South Fork of the Holston River.

Robofest is a festival of competitions and events with autonomous robots that encourages students to have fun while learning principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and Computer Science. Students design, construct, and program the robots to compete in the categories of Junior and Senior Exhibition, Junior Bottle Sumo, and Senior Bottle Sumo Classic.
