Bring a robot to the library, host a demo at a university, or organize a robot convention. There are no rules other then to share the excitement of robotics with your community. If you hosted an event in 2020, tell us about your event.
Waterloo STEAM Elementary is proud to take part in the 2015 National Robotics Week. Robotics/Engineering is offered as an encore subject for grades K-6th at Waterloo. We use a variety of age and developmentally appropriate Lego Education materials to excite our students about robotics and STEM fields of study. This is an all day event that will take place during each class period. Our K-1st grade students will use the Lego Duplo Simple Machine set to build a Hockey player that incorporates a 40 tooth gear, crown gear and pulleys. Our 2nd-4th graders will be building an alligator using the Lego Wedo set. They will then learn to program the alligators sensor to open and closed when we place an object in its mouth. Finally, Waterloo's 5th-6th Graders are going be using our schools 18 EV3 robots by attempting challenges on the 2014 FLL World Class Challenge table. We will showcase our learning by posting various pictures and videos on our facebook page throughout the day.

That ONE Team will be demonstrating the robot from last year's First Robotics competition. After discussing what the team does there will be a demonstration of what the robot can do and there will be time for questions about the team and robot. Then the audience will get a chance to drive the robot under the drive team's supervision. There will also be small lego robots and mentors to help younger children learn and explore the world of robotics.
