    As part of a FIRST® team, kids apply math and science knowledge, solve problems, make decisions, communicate complex ideas, collaborate as part of a team, exercise leadership, manage resources, create and execute business plans – all essential skills in any successful technological enterprise. FIRST® competitions and tournaments are celebrations by which communities convey the importance of their students’ achievements in science and technology.   • University of Virginia National Robotics Week (UVA-NRW) Event, University of Virginia

    In the UVA-NRW event, more than 30 students and faculty members from the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science will be exhibiting interactive robotics projects. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with the robots and learn about the variety of ways robots are making a difference in the world. Hope to see you there!

    Join us on Saturdays from 10:00-2:00 to build robots using Lego EV3, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi. Choose your robot control system and work at your own level (basic, intermediate, or advanced). We will assist you with timely advice and materials, or provide detailed instruction based on your needs. We also run special “Learn to Solder” and “Basic Electronics” workshops on demand, so if you are interested, don’t forget to ask. Our workshops are always hands-on and lots of fun. $135

Learn robot design, construction and programming using Mindstorms EV3 or the Arduino microcontroller, including mechanical structure, motors, gears, power, sensors, and much more.
