The FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC®) stages
short games played by robots. The robots are designed and built in six weeks (from a common set of parts) by a team of high-school-aged young people and a handful of engineers-Mentors. The students program and remotely control the robots in competition rounds on the field. The FIRST
Robotics Competition Regional events are typically held in university arenas. They involve 40 to 70 teams cheered by thousands of fans over three days (two days for District events).

Following the success of last month’s Killer Robot 1.0 class, we will continue to develop our deadly bots by adding motors, sensors, and pumps that will give our diabolic robotic devices the ability to squirt evil and dangerous water at annoying aliens, cats, super-heroes, or little brothers.
For those who may have missed Killer Robots 1.0, they will have the opportunity to build a simple robot from the ground up using sensors and servos and a programmed arduino for a brain.

Why do birds migrate? Students work in pairs to learn about migrating birds and migratory behavior and paths. They then create birdcalls using LEGO WeDo elements and software. Pioneers in Engineering (PiE) is a student organization at UC Berkeley that encourages underprivileged high schools from the Bay Area into STEM by hosting annual robotics competitions. PiE offers two main resources for each high school team: a full-fledged robotics kit designed, developed, and manufactured in-house and trained UC Berkeley college students as mentors.
The 8-week-long competition season culminates in the high school teams competing their robots against other teams' robots in a challenge created by PiE.
Scrimmage is the dry-run for the Final Competition, at which teams test their robots on the field against competitors in order to decide how they can improve their robots before the Final Competition.

MATE’s international student underwater robotics (remotely operated vehicle or ROV) competition consists of an international event and a network of 22 regional contests that take place across U.S. and in Canada, Hong Kong, Scotland, Japan, and Egypt. Student teams from upper elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, home schools, community colleges, universities, and community organizations, such as the Boys and Girls Club and 4-H, participate.
