SeaPerch is an innovative underwater robotics program that equips teachers and students with the resources they need to build an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in an in-school or out-of-school setting. Students build the ROV from a kit comprised of low-cost, easily accessible parts, following a curriculum that teaches basic engineering and science concepts with a marine engineering theme. The SeaPerch Program provides students with the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering, science, and mathematics (STEM) while building an underwater ROV as part of a science and engineering technology curriculum. Throughout the project, students will learn engineering concepts, problem solving, teamwork, and technical applications.

Each year we will announce a new challenge for the competition. This year, the challenge is Trash Trek. Teams must build robots to compete in the challenge and complete a research project related to the challenge. During the competition, teams must also appear before panel of judges.

The Robot Challenge is an inexpensive team project designed to engage High School students in a two to four month activity which closely resembles the work a graduate engineer would be doing in the "real world".
Depending on the level of challenge students and teachers seek, they build 2 leg or 4 leg walking robots from scratch, decorate them, teach them to walk and climb hurdles, and complete with other teams while operating them either manually or autonomously, using open loop or closed-loop-feedback control.
Students are also graded on writing reports and making presentations.
Main event will be held in Baltimore, MD, Sunday, April 23, 2017, and a smaller event will be held there Saturday, April 22. Similar events will also be held in Lincroft, NJ on April 22, 2017, and on May 6, 2017 in Galloway, NJ.
