  • Fresno Mini Maker Faire, Chukchansi Park along Tulare Street

This is Fresno’s 5th Mini Maker Faire. It started in April 2013 as Fresno Ideaworks Mini Maker Faire and was held at Chukchansi Park during a baseball game. A maker faire at a baseball game was a FIRST! It went so well that similar events were held at the stadium even during years when the official Mini Maker Faire was hosted elsewhere. The blending of the faire and the ball game has been a great collaboration. Makers from around the Valley come to show the creative and innovative projects they have made or are working on. Check back often for “Meet the Makers” profiles. There will be plenty of hands-on activities for all ages and demonstrations that are sure to inspire you to start thinking about a project you could make. It’s all about showing, telling, sharing, and learning what’s possible.

  • Xconomy's Robo Madness 2018: Homecoming, iRobot

After years of hype, robotics and artificial intelligence have seeped into the fabric of everyday life and are hitting home. Cars, trucks, and even lawn mowers are gaining self-driving capabilities. Retail and logistics are becoming more automated. Virtual and robotic assistants can answer questions, make decisions, and recognize human emotions in some cases. Our homes are getting smarter, thanks to networked devices that can sense, control, and map their surroundings. In business, the concept of robots and A.I. has shifted from exotic machines to more mainstream tools and services—a homecoming of sorts. Join Xconomy for our fourth annual robotics conference, as we convene a who’s who of experts from Boston and beyond at the home of iRobot—a pioneer from which other robotics and A.I. companies have sprung. The program will tackle these cutting-edge topics, and more: -- Smart homes, IoT, and interfaces -- Progress in driverless vehicles -- Retail and logistics automation -- Investment and startup strategies -- Evolving human-machine relationships
