  • USC Viterbi Robotics Open House, University of Southern California

    This is a fun day with all the robotics research labs providing demonstrations every half hour for groups of 15 people, plus some hands-on fun and games. The labs are spread out in four buildings, so there is a lot to walk around and see. Visitors can move at their own pace to attend as many lab demonstrations as they want and take a break any time to explore campus, find something to eat (bring your own lunch or use a campus dining facility), and enjoy the day. The most crowded time is when the schools visit between 9 am - 2 pm, and the more leisurely afternoon pace is perfect for after school groups, clubs, families, and robotics industry executives.​

    This is Fresno’s 5th Mini Maker Faire. It started in April 2013 as Fresno Ideaworks Mini Maker Faire and was held at Chukchansi Park during a baseball game. A maker faire at a baseball game was a FIRST! It went so well that similar events were held at the stadium even during years when the official Mini Maker Faire was hosted elsewhere.The blending of the faire and the ball game has been a great collaboration. Makers from around the Valley come to show the creative and innovative projects they have made or are working on. Check back often for “Meet the Makers” profiles. There will be plenty of hands-on activities for all ages and demonstrations that are sure to inspire you to start thinking about a project you could make. It’s all about showing, telling, sharing, and learning what’s possible.

  • Robotics with Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey and Creative Brain Learning and Alvord USD, Arizona Middle School

    Arizona Middle School, part of Alvord Unified School District, and Creative Brain Learning will be hosting the Mayor of Riverside Rusty Bailey for a student robotics demonstration on April 11. In partnership with Creative Brain Learning, Alvord USD provides robotics engineering classes during their Expanded Learning program. Students from Arizona Middle School and other Alvord middle schools will be showcasing their robotics projects during Mayor Bailey’s visit. Blue Brain Bot, a Riverside-based company and division of Creative Brain Learning, has developed the LEGO-compatible and programmable educational robotic kits that students are working with. Creative Brain Learning serves 16 schools in the Alvord Unified School District and 25 schools in the Riverside Unified School District. Free Blue Brain Bots are provided to the students as part of this partnership with Creative Brain Learning & Blue Brain Bots. Creative Brian Learning is seeking community partners to help provide free robotics kits to more students in the Inland Empire and beyond.     RoboTech Fest, a one-day free science expo event, celebrates National Robotics Week. Shared Science, in collaboration with Long Beach City College will showcase STE(A)M-related programs, projects, and products in one place. Some exhibitors include Aquarium of the Pacific, City of LB Office of Sustainability, USS Iowa, Galileo Innovation Camps, and LB Public Library's Mobile Studio.
