Stop by the spectrUM Discovery Area on Level Two Tuesday through Saturday to explore a guided science activity.

Calling all young architects! Get inspired by building challenges or create a masterpiece of your very own during this drop-in, free-build time. LEGO® Club builders will have the opportunity to put their creations on display for the whole library to enjoy until the next session. For kids 5 to 12.

3D Printer available for public use. Staff can provide basic help finding free 3D files online and using Cura Ultimaker 3D printing software. Print jobs taking more than 3 hours should be taken to the MakerSpace at the downtown branch of Missoula Public Library.

Build and program robots in this introductory robotics class using the newest LEGO® Spike Prime® and Essential® systems. In addition to building skills, students will learn basic computer programming through simple, visual block coding. Older students will have the opportunity to write code in Python. Throughout the class, students will build a variety of robots using motors, sensors, and lights, creating a fun experience that fosters problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Projects will be assigned based on each student’s age and skill level, with weekly activities that gradually increase in complexity. This is a great way to prepare students for more advanced robotics programs.

We supply the bricks. Just bring a ton of imagination and get ready to build. The sky's the limit! For kids 6 and up.

Get started with Swift, the language used to create apps and programs for iOS and macOS. The program is self-paced and will introduce the language and get participants started with the Swift Playgrounds app. Perfect for 5-10-year-olds who can read and follow written instructions! Participants will understand more about coding, this class is your first leap into the vast and exciting world of programming.

Lego Club, for ages 5-11, meets the first Tuesday of every month at New Castle Public Library from 6:00-7:00pm. Come build themed Lego designs with family and friends!

The VEX Robotics competition prepares students to become future innovators with 95% of participants reporting an increased interest in STEM subject areas and pursuing STEM-related careers. Tournaments are held year-round at the regional, state, and national levels and culminate at the VEX Robotics World Championship each April!
